Michael
Barnett works as a teaching artist in poetry and writing
with the Urban/Suburban Afterschool Arts Program through
the Lehigh Valley Arts Council. His poetry and writing have
been published in red lights, The Griffin 2007, Craft
Arts International, the Universalist Herald,
and the Journal of Unitarian Universalist History,
among others.
He earned
his Master of Divinity, Magna Cum Laude, from Moravian Theological
Seminary in Bethlehem, PA, and his Master of Education and
Certification in Secondary Education Social Studies at Gwynedd-Mercy
College, where he taught religious studies.
In Santa
Fe during the summers, Michael facilitates intergenerational
poetry writing and journaling at the Santa Fe Children's
Museum. He teaches "Create Poetry from the Heart,"
"Write Stories from the Heart," and "Discover
Your Intuitive Self" at Souderton Area Community Education.
With
fiber artist/musician Ted Hallman, Michael has co-written,
recorded, and produced a CD of soothing, spiritual songs,
"A Song For You," which celebrates Nature, Mother
Earth, the seasonal cycles, and love.
